A few lanes.
A little after sunrise.
The sun was hungover, though,
and peering through bleary eyes.
The kind of lane that god created
in his divine wisdom.
Exclusively for morning walks.
Yes, this lane exists.
Yes, the flowers are real.
No, I didn't PhotoShop it.
They cattle walked past into the field to graze.
Then the man's wife walked out of the hedge with packed lunch.
And both set off to work.
Hopefully, they'll never need the NREGA.
I stood there for about 10 minutes.
Not once did he look away from the lake.

Your blog Mr.Perumaly is an interesting find. Keep blogging!
ReplyDeleteP.S Does the names Fr.Anselem Perumalil or Fr.Probus Perumalil ring any bells to you ?
Thanks, Devasuran.
ReplyDeleteAm amazed that someone actually got here.
Ring bells? They shake the bell tower!
All in the family.
And how, would you know them?
Well that makes us relatives! My great grandmother is from Permumaly family she was married off to the Turuthumali family to which i am related from my mother's side. I have known late Fr. Probus Perumalil reasonably well particularly during his association with Kristu Jyothi in Changanacherry.
ReplyDeleteYour great grand mother(kochu mariyamma?) should be the aunt of Fr. Probus Perumalil. You can contact me @ ca.sujithantony@gmail.com I can share more about Perumal family.
DeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting way to discover a relative!
Am not very clued into family and stuff as, except for 2 disastrous years that I spent trying to do my PU in Mannanam, I haven't spent much time there.
In fact, Fr. Probus's centenary was celebrated recently.
I didn't make it, though.
Had hosted a little kudumbayogam around Christmas.
And met a few people.
Which house was your g-grandmum from?
One of those around the Mannannam church?
Or from the Velankulam side?
lol its pretty much the same case here, i am not too clued up about family affairs either. I just got it confirmed from someone that Late Probus Achen was my great grandmother's brother.
ReplyDeleteHi Devasuaran,
Deletehappy to hear that you are connected to Perumalil. My great grandmother also belong to same family.
Ithink if we are in touch we could resolve some missing links in our family history.
Thanks
